Collins Home

18. Collins Home (1905)

1107 R Street
Queen Anne

Reflecting a blend of styles, this home's original owner, James D. Collins, was proud of the fact that only clear pine was used in its construction. "Not a knothole in it," he would proclaim to those who first saw the house. A member of the Confederate army, Collins spent three years in a Union prison, was elected to the California Assembly in 1876, and was made Fresno County Sheriff in 1898.
