Brix Mansion

24. H. H. Brix Mansion (1911)

2844 Fresno Street
Edward T. Foulkes, Architect
Italian Villa

Herman H. Brix established a homestead in the Coalinga area in 1888. His instinct for buying potentially valuable oil properties made him a wealthy man. Brix was a major investor in the Hotel Fresno, which was designed by Edward T. Foulkes in 1910. Foulkes' other local designs include the Gundelfinger Home (1912) and the Louis Einstein Home (1913). Preservation of the Brix Mansion is assured through a facade easement to the City of Fresno. This home is in the National Register of Historic Places, and a more detailed description is available.
