Hewitt Home (1891)
175 N. Diana Street
Stick
John C. Hewitt was a native of Georgia and a veteran of the Mexican War. He came to California to work in mining, but later took up farming on 640 acres near Big Dry Creek in Fresno County. Hewitt built this home only five years before the arrival of the Santa Fe Railroad, which laid its tracks directly past Hewitt's front door.
