When it was completed, this was the tallest building between Oakland and Los Angeles. The first floor lobby has a beautiful 40-foot coffered ceiling of hand-painted sculpted plaster. Badly damaged and covered by a dropped ceiling for many years, the original ceiling has now been restored.
