H.P. #272
Southern Pacific Lines Pullman
Shed (1917)
1713 Tulare Street
Vernacular
This structure served as the sleeping car shed for the adjacent Southern Pacific Railroad Depot. It is a rare surviving example of a structure that was common during the heyday of railway travel in the United States. According to the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, this may be the only surviving Pullman car shed in the entire United States. The building now serves as a canopy for parking as well as interior storage units.
