H.P. #304
A. Emory
& Cora Wishon Home (1913)
1284 N. Wilson Avenue
Modified Arts &
Crafts
This Arts & Crafts home was originally front-gabled, but an addition in 1921 changed it to a side-gabled structure. Emory Wishon was a national leader in the public energy field. He was general manager of San Joaquin Light and Power Company, and later was an Executive Vice President for Pacific Gas & Electric.
The house was an early showpiece for electrical wiring. It had 268 electrical outlets, and "almost every species of electrical appliance known to man," according to a 1922 article in the Journal of Electricity and Western Industry.
