This is one of earliest commercial buildings in what was and still remains a predominantly residential neighborhood. The Bixler Vapor Dry Cleaning Company operated here from 1920 until at least 1956. After a period of vacancy it was occupied by the Broadway Fair Appliance and Furniture Company in 1969. By 1979 it had become the headquarters of Mid-Cal Publishers.
