This 1968 building with its quirky facade is associated with two major figures in Fresno's cultural and architectural history: artist Stan Bitters and architect Robin Gay McCline. Bitters' ceramic work includes the facade of Duncan Ceramics, the sculpted bronze doors on Saroyan Theater, and numerous fountains, murals, and planters on Fulton Avenue in downtown Fresno. McCline, working for many years with James A. Oakes, designed at least sixty residential buildings throughout the San Joaquin Valley and several small commercial buildings.
The Ridge Electric Motor Company was founded by Wilbur Ridge in the 1920s in the backyard of his east Fresno home. His son Clair later took over the business, and commissioned this building on G Street.
