444 Fresno Street
Mid-century Modern
David Horn, architect
The Fresno-Klette Medical Arts Center was the first black-owned medical center in Fresno. It was established by Earl R. Meyers, M.D. (1919-2014), who practiced medicine in Fresno from 1947 until 1975. The Center included offices for three physicians, a pharmacy, laboratory, and x-ray facility.
The original building was constructed of stucco, brick and glass. It featured large low roof overhangs to provide shade and an inner courtyard giving light to interior rooms. The buildings are connected through interior hallways and breezeways.
