1405 E. California Avenue
The Edison Social Club, formerly located on this site, was originally founded by German and Volga German families a local community center. On September 30, 1962, Cesar Chavez, Gilbert Padilla, and Dolores Huerta gathered about 250 farmworkers in the club building for the inaugural convention of the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA), now the United Farm Workers (UFW).
The Edison Social Club building was demolished by the Fresno Redevelopment Agency in 1973 as part of an urban renewal project. Today the site is occupied by two single-family residential homes.
